Earth Month takes place throughout April and encourages people to take action for the environment, leading up to Earth Day on April 22, a free international event focused on sustainability and environmental protection.

Join the New York State Department of Transportation’s (NYSDOT) Earth Month Team and connect, engage, and inspire your community to commit to more sustainable transportation options. Whether you’re an organization that would like to explore long-term mobility solutions or an individual looking to carpool to work, we can help: 

Organizations and Program Partners 

  • Setting up an internal Transportation Committee 

  • Assisting with hosting an Earth Month campaign at your organization, such as provision of flyers, online pledge forms, social media posts, and more 

  • Assisting with collecting commuter feedback  to inform organizational transportation or mobility strategies 

  • Developing an organizational transportation or mobility plan 

  • Developing long-term sustainable transportation programs, such as a bike-borrow, carpool, or vanpool program  
     

Members and Individuals 

  • Exploring sustainable transportation services we offer like transit, carpooling, biking, and more  

  • Connecting with local organizations committed to sustainable transportation

Bicycle Challenge

Our Earth Month team can help your organization host a bike challenge to encourage more of your constituents to commute by a bike instead of vehicle! Bike challenges can help reduce your organization’s carbon footprint, improve health outcomes, and build community. We can help you define goals for the challenge, track ridership metrics, and celebrate participants.
