Hudson Valley
511NY Rideshare Members may use the Guaranteed Ride Program (GRP) in the event of an emergency or a qualified unexpected situation (please see qualifying reasons to take a ride). Members commuting to or within the Hudson Valley are eligible for $400 per year toward qualified rides, plus an additional $200 available incrementally with the completion of Bonus Actions*.
The following are examples of valid reasons to utilize the program:
Driver of a carpool or vanpool had to leave work early for a family or personal emergency
When a regularly scheduled connecting service is not available (for monthly UniTicket Holders only)**
Unexpected personal, family, or medical emergency
Missed last scheduled public transit run
Unscheduled Overtime
The GRP may NOT be used for:
Transportation impacts due to Weather Emergencies
Significant disruptions to mass transit operations**
Personal errands or travel
Pre-planned medical or dental appointments
Business-related travel
Non-emergency side trips on the way home
Trips to work
* Information about Bonus Actions can be found at the bottom of the page.
** If a single connecting service is unavailable, GRP is available to monthly UniTicket holders. However, during large-scale disruptions that affect all connecting services, GRP cannot be used due to funding limitations. The GRP administrator reserves the right to decline ride requests in certain situations, especially during weather emergencies.
GRP Members can use local cabs, rideshare using service providers like Uber or Lyft), ride with a coworker, family member or friend, or take a transit trip.*
Service Providers (Uber, Lyft and select local cab companies) can only pick up GRP members at their 511NY Rideshare registered work location or a qualifying connecting services location (see I'm a monthly UniTicket holder). If you do not have access to the 511NY Rideshare Uber account or are unable to call Member Support to schedule a Lyft, you may still take a ride with those services. However, you must fill out the Hudson Valley GRP Reimbursement form to receive your reimbursement if booked outside of 511NY Rideshare. Contact 511NY Rideshare at grphudsonvalley@511nyrideshare.org or 1-866-692-6668 to connect to the accounts for future access.
511NY Rideshare is not responsible for fees issued by the service provider, such as rider cancellations, vehicle damage, no-shows, or lost and found item returns. For any questions about fees or ride status, please contact the service provider’s customer service.
*This will only qualify for GRP trips, not normal carpool, or transit trips. All trips are at the discretion of a 511NY Rideshare GRP Administrator.
