Clean Air NY's mission is to educate New York State residents about how they can improve our air quality. In New York State, 33 percent of carbon emissions are caused by vehicle travel (NYSDEC), so taking alternative forms of transportation, such as mass transit, can make a big difference. Each year, mass transit reduces carbon dioxide emissions by roughly the same amount as if electricity was turned off to half the houses in New York State! Other actions that can help clean the air are combining multiple errands into one trip and carpooling. More ideas can be found on the Clean Air NY page!
