Guaranteed Ride Program

511NY Rideshare members in Erie and Niagara Counties who regularly commute by carpool, vanpool, public transit, walking, or biking are eligible for the free Guaranteed Ride Home Program (GRHP). When you need to leave work unexpectedly, and can’t use your regular mode of commute, we’ll get you to your destination by Lyft, Uber, taxi or public transit—up to $200 in total ride credits a year.*

Members are eligible for two rides each month, for a maximum of 24 rides per year. Each ride may be up to $50, and members can use up to $200 per year toward qualified rides.

Members may use the GRP in the event of an emergency or an unexpected situation. The following are examples of valid reasons to utilize the program:

• Unexpected personal or family emergency
• Unscheduled overtime
• Missed last scheduled public transit run
• Missed last scheduled public transit run
• Driver of a carpool or vanpool had to leave work early for a family or personal emergency
• Transportation failure (e.g. bike flat tire)
• Weather emergencies (i.e. situations in which the weather would make your sustainable transportation option unsafe to use, such as biking in a snow storm

The GRP may NOT be used for:

• Previously scheduled medical appointments
• Personal errands or travel
• Business-related travel
• Natural disasters
• Building closings or evacuations
• Transit disruptions
