Carpooling is as easy as it sounds — share a ride with other travelers or commuters who have similar start and end locations. You can participate in carpools as a driver only, passenger only or in alternating roles. Not only does carpooling save money, but during a transportation or weather related emergency it may be the only way to get to work. Plus you may qualify for the 511NY Rideshare Guaranteed Ride Program.

Guaranteed Ride Program
It happens. Emergencies and unexpected situations arise. If you or your driver gets sick and have to leave work early, or one of you have to work over time, no problem. 511NY Rideshare's Guaranteed Ride Program is like a commuter insurance policy.
As an active carpooler or vanpooler you are preapproved for the Guaranteed Ride Program. All you need to do is let 511NY Rideshare know who you are carpooling with so we can confirm ridership. Then if you miss your carpool or vanpool due to an emergency or overtime, we'll pay for the ride to the destination by public transit or taxi.
